Job Announcement: WordPress Expert for E-commerce Site Management
We are seeking a dedicated WordPress Expert to join our team and support the ongoing management of our e-commerce website. With a stable platform in place, we need an expert to provide regular oversight and guidance.
Key Responsibilities
As a WordPress Expert, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and updating our WordPress e-commerce website and WooCommerce setup. Troubleshooting technical issues such as plugin conflicts, update failures, and site errors will be a significant part of your role. You will also perform regular updates of plugins, themes, and WordPress core, with compatibility testing to ensure a smooth running site.
Managing website security, backups, and uptime monitoring will be essential to your role. Optimizing site performance, particularly for speed and mobile responsiveness, will be expected. Configuring essential tools/plugins for SEO, analytics, caching, and payment processing will also be part of your responsibilities.
Acting as a technical advisor for our non-technical team is another crucial aspect of the role. Managing staging environments and pushing safe updates to the live site will also be part of your duties.
Required Skills
To excel in this role, you will need proficiency with WordPress and WooCommerce. Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills are necessary, as is solid knowledge of PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and MySQL. Familiarity with common WordPress plugins and their configuration is also required.
You should be able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders and have experience with website security best practices and performance optimization tools. Managing staging and live environments with version control practices is also important.
While knowledge of hosting platforms like Hostinger, WP Engine, Cloudways, DNS, SSL, and CDN setup is preferred, it is not essential.
Additional Competencies
Understanding of e-commerce scalability and the ability to future-proof the website for growth will add value to your role. Familiarity with project management and communication strategies to ensure smooth collaboration is also beneficial.
Occasionally, you may be required to support related e-commerce platforms and integrations, including Shopify, if needed.
Work Environment
Our team offers a collaborative and friendly work environment. We provide a flexible, remote work schedule and a creative design team for visuals and content. While experience with page builders like Elementor or WPBakery is helpful, it is not required for design.
A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with WordPress and WooCommerce is required for this role. You should be comfortable managing staging environments and pushing updates to live. Familiarity with common plugins such as Yoast, WP Rocket, Stripe, and PayPal is expected.
