Q1 Expands Charging Infrastructure Near Osnabrück

In a bid to promote e-mobility and support the changing needs of car drivers, Q1 Energie AG has been actively expanding its charging infrastructure in the Osnabrück region.

Currently, the fast-charging network near Osnabrück includes eight hyperchargers, each with a capacity of 400 kW, located in Georgsmarienhütte, approximately 10 km south of the city. This site also features a special charging point for vans, enhancing the fast-charging network's capacity and versatility in the area [1].

Within Osnabrück city itself, there is a smaller charging point network offering charging with a maximum capacity of 11 kW per outlet, suitable for slower charging needs. This network is managed by TÜV NORD Immobilien GmbH & Co. KG [3].

Looking ahead, while there is an ongoing push in Germany to expand fast-charging infrastructure, especially for electric trucks along federal motorways, these broader initiatives affect areas around Osnabrück indirectly rather than specifying new Q1 infrastructure expansions in the city or immediate vicinity. The German federal efforts include the installation of fast-charging stations at approximately 350 locations nationwide, aiming to support heavy electric vehicles and meet climate goals, but specific future additions to Osnabrück's network beyond the recent Georgsmarienhütte expansion have not been explicitly detailed in the available data [2].

Q1's vision for future mobility goes beyond the traditional fuel station business and includes a multi-mobility concept, with e-mobility playing a central role. As part of this vision, Q1 supports employers, hoteliers, and operators of public parking lots in meeting the needs of electric vehicle drivers [4].

Recently, Q1 has collaborated with WSO to install a Q1 Hypercharger with 150 kW power at two charging points, supplying the WSO fleet, employees, and the public with energy. This expansion has provided WSO with more flexibility, as there are now four charging points available to employees and the public [5].

In addition, another Osnabrück company, Geisler GmbH, has been activated for the installation at Eduard-Pestel-Straße 2. A credit card terminal for payment with debit or credit cards will be retrofitted for WSO in the future [6].

Q1 currently operates over 120 charging points at more than 40 locations and accepts a wide range of charging cards and mobile payment solutions, including the Q1 Card, ENBW Mobility+ App, Shell Recharge, EWE GO, DKV Mobility, and many other providers [7].

As Q1 continues to expand its charging infrastructure, it aims for comprehensive coverage to meet the changing needs of car drivers and contribute to a more sustainable future. The Managing Director of WSO, Axel Mauersberger, supports this expansion of the Osnabrück charging infrastructure [8].

For the most up-to-date or precise future development plans for the Q1 charging infrastructure specifically within Osnabrück city, local utility announcements or the National Charging Infrastructure Management Center may offer updated details.

Technology plays a crucial role in Q1's multi-mobility concept, particularly in the expansion of their charging infrastructure, as they support the growing needs of electric vehicle drivers. In the Osnabrück region, this includes the installation of high-capacity hyperchargers, such as the ones in Georgsmarienhütte.

Meanwhile, the entertainment industry can also benefit from this technology, as efficient charging solutions enable longer trips, potentially making it easier for electric vehicles to transport equipment and crews for filming or live performances.
