Exhibition Showcase in 2025: G. Zwiehoff Introduces Innovative Dual-Direction, Emission-Free Ranger Vehicles

G. Zwiehoff, a renowned family-owned company celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, has made a significant stride in sustainable rail shunting technology by unveiling two innovative electric vehicles at Transport Logistic 2025. The event, held in Munich, Germany, is a global hub for logistics, mobility, and supply chain solutions.

The first innovation, the Rotrac RRe, is a robust electric shunting device designed specifically for shunting and switching tasks in rail yards and industrial facilities. With dimensions of approximately 2.3 x 1.7 meters and a weight of around 2.7 tons, it is particularly suitable for tight shunting areas. The Rotrac RRe boasts a high-voltage lithium-ion battery with up to 210 kilowatt-hours of capacity, enabling it to move loads up to 4,000 tons. Its quiet electric drive provides more comfort for the driver, and all-wheel steering ensures high maneuverability.

The Rotrac RRe, a sustainable alternative to diesel models, offers high traction, compact design, easy maintenance, and fast recharging. Stephan Zwiehoff, CEO of G. Zwiehoff, stated that the Rotrac RRe is a fully electric, emission-free, and maneuverable bi-directional shunting device for moving heavy loads.

The second innovation from G. Zwiehoff is the Rotrac E1, a compact bi-directional electric vehicle designed for train loads up to 110 tons. With a low profile, it can pass under elevated trains with a foldable coupling rod. The Rotrac E1 uses proven technology from manufacturer Linde Material Handling and offers precise steering of loads with 100% track stability and a small turning radius. It is equipped with a durable lithium-ion battery, enabling intermediate charging, and is suitable for lighter shunting tasks, warehouse rail operations, and industrial sidings.

Both the Rotrac RRe and Rotrac E1 focus on providing eco-friendly, efficient, and practical solutions for modern rail shunting challenges. They emphasize emission-free, battery-powered operation, tailored designs for different shunting intensities, enhanced operational efficiency, and lower lifecycle costs. These innovations mark a notable advance in zero-emission rail yard operations showcased at Transport Logistic 2025.

The Rotrac RRe will be on display on G. Zwiehoff's own stand in the Outdoor Area, while the Rotrac E1 will be on display as a co-exhibitor at the Bayern Innovativ joint stand. These groundbreaking electric shunting vehicles are set to revolutionize the rail shunting industry, offering a greener, quieter, and more efficient alternative to traditional diesel models.

  1. The Rotrac RRe and Rotrac E1, unveiled by G. Zwiehoff, are innovations aimed at redefining the automotive industry, specifically the automotive technology sector, by providing eco-friendly and efficient electric vehicles for rail shunting tasks.
  2. The Rotrac RRe, a sustainable alternative to diesel models, is not only a significant stride in the transportation sector but also a critical contribution to the finance industry, as its zero-emission operation and lower lifecycle costs make it a cost-effective solution for rail shunting challenges.
  3. As the Rotrac RRe and Rotrac E1 focus on battery-powered operation, they not only cater to the technology sector but also have implications for the finance sector, as they promote the use of renewable energy sources in the industry, contributing to a more sustainable finance landscape.
