Weekly Gaming Dose: All About PC Gaming
Every gaming event transforms into a PC-focused exhibition.
Man, I tell ya, this week's been a wild ride with Mandrake, Innkeep, and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. But let's get real, my PC gaming obsession ain't slowing down any time soon!
Remember that Frosty Games Fest I mentioned? Well, it's freaking freezing in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand right now, and guess what? More than 50 games from that showcase are coming to PC! I'm talking about the game where you're the thief with the ridiculously long arms and the visual novel where you get all steamy with Dracula[1]!
Now, you probably know that the PC Gaming Show only focuses on PC games, and the Xbox Games Showcase, not so surprisingly, is filled to the brim with PC games too[2]. And get this, the Xbox handheld that Sarah Bond, Microsoft's president of Xbox, introduced, turns out to be the ROG Ally, bringin' the power of Xbox and the freedom of Windows together!
But here's the real kicker: Pokémon studio Game Freak's next game is headed straight for PC[2][3]! Can you believe it? Can you imagine battlin' Pokémon on your PC? My little heart is overflowing with excitement!
And you know what's surprising even more? I'd say the Summer Game Fest, this big crazy game extravaganza, has practically become a PC show by default[3]. Remember how long we waited for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game to come to PC? Well, with Scott Pilgrim EX announcin' a PC launch from its very first reveal, it's like a gamechanger[3]. Wu-Tang: Rise of the Deceiver's also joinin' the PC revolution, although I'm still crossing my fingers for 1999's Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style to get a PC port too[3].
Everything from Diablo-but SpongeBob SquarePants-like to Lego-themed multiplayer party games is makin' its way to our beloved PC platform[3]. When a rare game like Stranger than Heaven pops up at the Summer Game Fest, it's hard to imagine it won't be gracing our PC screens with its noir Yakuza vibe[3].
Back in the day, E3 felt like a celebration of console hardware and big-budget games, with PC games relegated to the sidelines[4]. But now? With E3 six feet under and a wooden stake through its heart, PC gaming's at the forefront, proudly representin' the diversity of games we love[4].
