EU introduces electronic border control system, replacing traditional passport stamping practices
The European Union (EU) is set to launch a new electronic border system on October 12, 2025, called the Entry/Exit System (EES). This innovative system aims to modernize and improve the management of the EU's external borders, providing reliable, systematic data on border crossings.
The EES will facilitate the entry and exit of EU citizens, encouraging the use of automated border controls. Key features include biometric identification of travelers, systematic detection of overstayers, and an efficient, automated border control process.
