Etihad Rail & Keolis Join Forces for UAE's 2026 Passenger Rail Launch
The United Arab Emirates' (UAE) rail network has seen significant expansion, with Etihad Rail and Keolis announcing a joint venture to operate the upcoming passenger train service, set to launch in 2026.
The UAE National Railway Network now spans an impressive 900 km, connecting 11 terminals including four major ports. Etihad Rail has been successfully operating the Shah-Habshan-Ruwais route since 2016 and completed the network expansion in 2023. The company continues to develop its passenger services, which will operate on the same network.
Etihad Rail and Keolis have joined forces to operate the UAE's upcoming passenger train service. Keolis, a global leader in public transport, will bring its international expertise in train operations to the partnership. The joint venture aims to implement best practices and innovative solutions for seamless operations and passenger comfort. Keolis will run the trains and provide additional services such as buses, taxis, and car parking. The collaboration also aligns with the UAE's climate and sustainability objectives, promoting environmentally friendly transport.
The new passenger train service, operated by the joint venture company formed by Etihad Rail and Keolis, is expected to launch in 2026. This partnership combines world-class infrastructure with international expertise, promising enhanced mobility and sustainability for the UAE.
