Tackle Instability with DMS Holland's Innovative All-in-One Hull Control Solution

Enhanced Marine Stabilizers Feature Flapping and Rotating Design for Superior Anchorage Stabilization

Embrace the future of nautical engineering with DMS Holland's groundbreaking All-in-One hull control system — a game-changer that promises to outdo conventional fins, gyros, and trim tabs in every aspect. This revolutionary design combines the best features of each technology, eliminating drawbacks like lengthy warm-up periods, increased fuel consumption, and paddle effect while at anchor.

The ingenious All-in-One fins shape-shift like nothing you've seen before. These long, thin high-aspect-ratio fins installed on the stern of the boat rotate around two axes, flapping like bird wings and rotating like traditional stabilizer fins. This unique design allows them to generate more stabilizing force at rest than traditional rotating fins, making them as effective as a gyro stabilizer at anchor.

At rest, the fins are fully extended at a slight downward angle, positioned towards the roll center of the boat. The flapping motion and the extra leverage of the wing tips being further from the roll center than conventional fins create a powerful righting force. In cruising and displacement/semi-displacement speeds up to 15 knots, the wings rotate and use the pressure of water flowing over them to generate lift or downforce, counteracting roll like fin stabilizers.

At planing speeds of 16 knots or more, the fins spin all the way around and tuck behind the trailing edge of the transom, serving as oversized automatic trim tabs and effectively managing roll, pitch, and yaw. The All-in-One system, first mooted six years ago, has been through extensive development and testing, and is finally committing to series production.

The Voyager 50, a 50ft planing aluminum cruiser, will be the first boat to feature the pioneering new All-in-One ‘wings.’ Discussions are underway with a potential retrofit customer and several new-build manufacturers. This innovative solution offers the simplicity of having a single system that performs equally well across the full range of speeds, as well as significant cost savings on both space and installation.

Other benefits include reduced drag, as the high aspect-ratio shape is not only more efficient at generating lift but can have a smaller surface area due to the flapping motion being more effective. This means less electrical power consumption, a potential boon for vessels wanting to run stabilizers overnight without the generator. Additionally, the fins are mounted outside the hull at the boat's rear, making them expectedly quieter than conventional stabilizers.

Although the All-in-One system may pose a threat to swimmers due to its longer size compared to regular fins and its location closer to the bathing platform, potential drawbacks, like increased costs and modifications required for hull installation, are being addressed by DMS Holland. Industry insiders are eagerly awaiting the launch of this intriguing, potentially game-altering nautical technology.
