Elon Musk's SpaceX Loses Top Start-up Spot as OpenAI Valuation Soars
Elon Musk's SpaceX has lost its position as the world's most valuable start-up. OpenAI, valued at £375 billion, has taken the crown. Meanwhile, Elon Musk's fortune has reached $500 billion, making him halfway to becoming the world's first trillionaire.
Musk's business ventures span beyond Tesla and SpaceX. He has interests in artificial intelligence through xAI, valued at £150 billion, and social media with X (formerly Twitter). Tesla's shares have doubled since March, though they are up only 13% this year.
OpenAI, which owns xAI, is led by Sam Altman. Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015 with Altman, Greg Brockman, and Ilya Sutskever. Musk's 12% stake in Tesla, worth over $1 trillion, makes him the world's richest person, a title he briefly lost to Larry Ellison last month.
Musk's fortune and business empire continue to grow. Despite political controversies, including his role in the Trump administration, his focus on Tesla has seen shares rebound. With SpaceX's crown lost, OpenAI's valuation, and Musk's fortune at $500 billion, the road to trillionairedom seems within reach.
