Elon Musk Becomes World's First Half-Trillionaire
Elon Musk, the visionary CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has reached another remarkable milestone. His net worth has soared to an unprecedented $500 billion, making him the first person to achieve a half-trillion dollar fortune.
Musk's wealth has grown exponentially over the years. In August 2020, he became the fifth person worth $100 billion, and just a few months later, in January 2021, he became the world's richest person. His fortune continued to rise, and in September 2021, he became the third person worth $200 billion.
The bulk of Musk's wealth comes from his stakes in Tesla and SpaceX. His 12% stake in Tesla, currently worth $191 billion, has significantly contributed to his net worth. Similarly, his 42% stake in SpaceX, now valued at $168 billion, is another major source of his fortune. His recent acquisition of a 53% stake in xAI Holdings, following a merger with X (formerly Twitter), has added another $60 billion to his wealth.
Musk's compensation package is also a significant factor. While the value of his 2018 CEO compensation package options is not specified, a new package potentially worth over $1 billion in additional stock is on the table if certain conditions are met. His $1 trillion Tesla pay package, however, is not about personal wealth but about ensuring his influence over the company's future.
Musk's net worth has grown from $24.6 billion in March 2020 to $500 billion in 2025, a staggering increase. If he maintains his current pace of wealth growth, he could become the world's first trillionaire before March 2033. Despite his wealth, Musk's focus remains on innovation and pushing the boundaries of technology.
