Electric Truck Manufacturer Windrose Secures $60 Million Order and Plans for South American Expansion
Windrose, a leading innovator in zero-emissions logistics, is making significant strides in its global expansion. The company has announced a partnership with Chilean logistics firm Trailerlogistics Sudamerica to introduce Windrose technology in South America for the first time.
This partnership marks Windrose's entry into a fifth continent, following a $60 million deal with a California-based zero-emissions logistics company named Nevoya. The deal involves supplying several hundred of Windrose's long-range, battery-powered heavy-duty electric trucks, specifically the R700 BEV semi trucks. Initial deliveries to Nevoya are planned by the end of 2025, with full deployment expected by the end of 2026.
The strategic partnership with Trailerlogistics Sudamerica aims to launch long-range electric trucks in the South American market. Trailerlogistics Sudamerica believes Chile is a suitable market for Windrose due to its open trade agreements, world-class highways, and unique geography.
Hernan Searle Ferrari, the founder and CEO of Trailerlogistics Sudamerica, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, "We see great potential for our long-haul EV technology to dominate in all terrains in Chile."
Chile, ranked as the 5th largest economy in Latin America by nominal GDP and 46th in the world, had 14,267 trucks sold in 2024, according to the National Automotive Association of Chile. The country, with a goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, is seen as a promising market for electric trucks by Trailerlogistics Sudamerica.
The initial delivery of Windrose trucks in Chile is expected by the end of 2025. Trailerlogistics Sudamerica is planning to electrify its fleet with Windrose trucks, with the aim of deploying up to 100 Windrose trucks by the end of 2026.
The first Windrose trucks will arrive in Chile later this year for route testing with Trailerlogistics. This comes after Windrose completed a fully zero-emission transport loop by using its own electric trucks for logistics between warehouses and ports in Shanghai and Los Angeles.
Chile's aim to reach 100% zero-emission sales of freight transport and intercity buses by 2045 aligns with Windrose's mission to promote sustainable logistics solutions. This partnership could significantly contribute to Chile's efforts towards carbon neutrality by 2050.
This commercial milestone for Windrose in the US and international markets represents a significant step forward in the company's mission to revolutionise the logistics industry with its zero-emission technology.
- Windrose's partnership with Trailerlogistics Sudamerica in Chile signifies a notable entry into the South American market for green energy technology, specifically electric vehicles, as part of the company's global expansion.
- With Trailerlogistics Sudamerica aiming to electrify its fleet with up to 100 Windrose trucks by the end of 2026, there is a potential for significant financial investment in technology for both companies, particularly in the sports sector, considering Chile's commitment to carbon neutrality by 2050.
