Eastbound Journey to Neuss and Kaarst
In a bid to bolster economic cooperation, Economic Affairs Commissioner Martin Stiller views Japan as a significant partner for the economically-oriented Rhein-Kreis Neuss. This perspective is shared by local officials, as evidenced by the recent visits of a Japanese economic delegation to various businesses within the region.
In late 2022, a joint event promoting mutual investments for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups was held at Haneda Innovation City. The delegation, accompanied by Johanna Mehring, Economic Development Officer, also visited machining technology company Pre-Wa-Tec in Rommerskirchen.
The visits continued with stops at special camera manufacturer IKEGAMI in Neuss and semiconductor robotics company AES motomation in Kaarst. Robert Abts, head of Kreiswirtschaftsförderung, emphasised the commitment to strengthen cooperation with Ota City, a Japanese city with economic and socio-economic structures similar to Rhein-Kreis Neuss.
The purpose of Johanna Mehring's visits with the Japanese delegation was to deepen networking with local businesses. Martin Stiller believes that growing investment and trade relations between Rhein-Kreis Neuss and Japan hold potential for increasing and securing prosperity for the region's citizens.
The initiative for this exchange was taken by Jetro Düsseldorf and Kreiswirtschaftsförderung, with the goal being to work towards new settlements and cooperation initiatives between Japanese companies and local businesses in Rhein-Kreis Neiss.
While there are no recent publicly available agreements or official programs specifically tying Ota City and Rhein-Kreis Neuss together, international city-to-city cooperation may exist under broader German-Japanese municipal partnerships or economic exchange programs. For precise, up-to-date information on cooperation initiatives or economic collaborations between these two, it is recommended to consult official municipal sources or contact chambers of commerce that specialise in German-Japanese economic relations.
The visits were intended to create additional value for the location of Rhein-Kreis Neuss, potentially benefiting its citizens in the long run. The fostered relationship between Ota City and Rhein-Kreis Neuss marks a significant step towards strengthening economic ties between the two regions and opens up opportunities for future collaborations.
- Martin Stiller, Economic Affairs Commissioner, sees the potential for economic and social policy cooperation between Rhein-Kreis Neuss and Japan, given the shared focus on promoting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups, as demonstrated by the recent visits to technology companies like Pre-Wa-Tec in Rommerskirchen.
- The delegation's visits to machining technology company Pre-Wa-Tec, special camera manufacturer IKEGAMI, and semiconductor robotics company AES motomation, coupled with the emphasis on strengthening cooperation with Ota City, suggest a mutual interest in technology exchange and collaboration between Rhein-Kreis Neuss and Japan.
