In late 2022, a joint event promoting mutual investments for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups was held at Haneda Innovation City. The delegation, accompanied by Johanna Mehring, Economic Development Officer, also visited machining technology company Pre-Wa-Tec in Rommerskirchen.
The visits continued with stops at special camera manufacturer IKEGAMI in Neuss and semiconductor robotics company AES motomation in Kaarst. Robert Abts, head of Kreiswirtschaftsförderung, emphasised the commitment to strengthen cooperation with Ota City, a Japanese city with economic and socio-economic structures similar to Rhein-Kreis Neuss.
The purpose of Johanna Mehring's visits with the Japanese delegation was to deepen networking with local businesses. Martin Stiller believes that growing investment and trade relations between Rhein-Kreis Neuss and Japan hold potential for increasing and securing prosperity for the region's citizens.
