Domestic shipbuilding could potentially make Omsk a key hub.
In the heart of Omsk Oblast, a significant investment project is underway in the shipbuilding sector, all thanks to Governor Vitally Hayzenko's backing.
On a Saturday in May 2025, Hayzenko shed light on some major outcomes from a regional investment committee meeting via his personal Telegram channel. Among the highlights was a proposition from Omsk River Port LLC, focusing on shipbuilding.
"The investor plans to manufacture barges with loading platforms in Omsk for transporting construction materials and other goods," Hayzenko explained.
Among the key advantages of launching such production, Hayzenko mentioned increased cargo transportation from Omsk Oblast to the East (China and Kazakhstan), enhanced regional role in supplying resources to areas across the Arctic Circle, and, needless to say, the creation of additional job opportunities.
Per Hayzenko's statements, the investment from Omsk River Port LLC amounts to approximately 1.1 billion rubles.
