Goddard Launches New Label, Rabbit Hole, with Emotional Drum & Bass EP
Goddard, a key figure in the UK drum and bass scene, has launched his own record label, Rabbit Hole, as a platform for his music and collaborations. The label made its debut with the release of Goddard's latest EP, "Here & Now," which features five tracks showcasing the full spectrum of his sound.
The EP was intentionally structured, with "Rabbit Hole," a collaboration with Venbee, as the opening track. This track sets the tone for the rest of the EP, which demonstrates Goddard's diverse styles and signature sounds. The second track, "Bounce," is designed for the rave and includes collaborations with three vocalists.
One of the most emotionally direct tracks on the EP is "Live for Nothing" with Billy Lockett. This track, along with the rest of the EP, reflects Goddard's sound, which often strikes a balance between emotional weight and club functionality.
In addition to collaborating with Venbee and Billy Lockett, the EP features collaborations with other artists such as Inja, Jazza, and Megan Linnell. The track "Get It Right" with Megan Linnell was recorded in person during lockdown, making it a special addition to the EP.
"Get It Right" was the easiest and most fluid track to create, taking only five hours from writing, recording, producing, and mixing. In contrast, the instrumental for "Live for Nothing" was started by Goddard in February and immediately heard Billy Lockett's voice on it, making the collaboration a natural fit.
Rabbit Hole is not just a label for Goddard, but also a community for up-and-coming artists. The label aims to grow as a respected home for emotive, vocal-driven drum and bass music and to establish itself as a distinctive brand within the drum & bass scene.
The EP "Here & Now" is now available across all platforms, and it's a testament to Goddard's artistic vision and creative control. If Goddard were to take only one drum and bass track to a desert island, he would choose "High Contrast and Calibre - Mr Majestic."
