Digital auction services now extended by the city, allowing for the online sale of valuable items

In a major step towards digitalising its services, the Department of Residents' Affairs in Halle (Saale) has expanded its online offerings. As of Tuesday, September 16, 2025, residents can bid on lost and found items online, making the process more convenient and accessible.

The city's official website, www.ourwebsite.com, now hosts an online auction portal for lost and found items. To access this service, simply navigate to "Online Services" and click on "F" for "Lost and Found". The portal provides information about the start and end of each auction, as well as the modalities for pickup.

The nationwide auction portal displays current lost and found items with photos after entering "Halle (Saale)". The online bidding is available 24/7 and from anywhere, offering residents the flexibility to bid at a time that suits them.

The digital search for lost and found items in the city's Lost and Found office is now available online, eliminating the need for a visit or phone call to the office in Halle (Saale). Changes of residence (registration and deregistration) can also be done online, as can registration or changes to motor vehicles (re-registration).

Resident parking permits can be applied for, extended or replaced online, and simple and extended residence certificates can be applied for as well. Address changes and deregistration of motor vehicles can also be handled online.

Online applications for appointments are now possible in the city, streamlining various administrative tasks. Desired license plates can be reserved online, and transmission blocks can be set up online as well.

Interestingly, the city of Erlangen in Germany expanded its housing office online services in 2025 to allow residents to auction lost and found items 24/7 from any location. This service can be accessed via the Erlangen service portal on their official city website.

The convenience of online services continues to grow in Halle (Saale), making it easier for residents to manage their administrative tasks and access lost and found items online.
