The 'Aumovio Mobility Report', an international comparative study on the future of automobiles, has shed light on the preferences of drivers in China and Germany. The report reveals significant differences in the priorities of these two major automotive markets.

In China, autonomous driving functions are given much more importance, with 70% of respondents valuing these features for their future car. This contrasts with Germany, where only 15% of drivers place such a high emphasis on autonomous driving. Interestingly, only 38% of German respondents believe that autonomous driving increases safety, a sentiment shared by 68% of Chinese drivers.

When it comes to AI-based voice assistants, China lags behind Germany. Only 39% of Chinese drivers value these features, whereas in Germany, the figure is 61%. However, China leads in the adoption of autonomous driving functions, with 80% of people not feeling overwhelmed by new car technologies, compared to 63% in Germany.

Good smartphone integration is considered important by 66% of German drivers for their future car, a feature that is not as highly prioritised in China. On the other hand, Chinese drivers prioritise brand reputation (66%) and high-quality materials and workmanship (66%) when considering cars, while German drivers focus on a good price-performance ratio (59%) and reliable quality (52%) when considering Chinese cars.

The most important technological features for future German cars, according to 85% of respondents, are an integrated navigation system with real-time traffic information. In contrast, autonomous driving functions are the most important feature for Chinese drivers, valued by 70%.

The Chinese automobile brand BYD is preferred by most Chinese consumers for their next purchase. This is due to BYD's strong reputation, good price-performance ratio, and recent overtaking of Volkswagen as the market leader in China. In Germany, over half of the respondents would currently buy a European car, with less than one-tenth considering Chinese cars for their next car purchase.

An electric range of over 600 kilometers is the most important characteristic of the future vehicle for both Germany (50%) and China (44%). This underscores the growing importance of electric vehicles in both markets.

The 'Aumovio Mobility Report' provides valuable insights into the preferences and priorities of drivers in China and Germany, offering automakers crucial information as they develop and market their future vehicles.
