Noris Network, a leading provider in data center services, has announced the construction of a new data center in Schwalbach am Taunus, Germany, named FRA1. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to meet the stringent security requirements of regulated industries and boasts numerous eco-friendly features.

FRA1 will be powered entirely by green energy, aiming for a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) value of 1.2. The data center will also feature a direct connection to the internet exchange DE-CIX, ensuring data transmission with the lowest possible latencies.

Security is a top priority for FRA1. The facility will be built and operated to strict standards, aiming for certifications such as EN50600 VK3/SK4, TÜV TSI Level 3, ISO 27001 according to BSI basic protection, and LEED Platinum. FRA1 will also feature 24/7 security, comprehensive video surveillance, perimeter protection, and multi-stage access controls with individual person and vehicle access.

The data center will provide approximately 7,000 square meters of IT space across three levels. To ensure high availability, it will be divided into two independent fire sections. The redundancy concept includes dual feed from the national power grid, N+1-redundant backup power systems, and double cooling that meets the N+1 standard.

FRA1 will be carrier-neutral and will provide access to leading national and international network operators. Noris Network plans to meet the requirements of regulated industries such as finance, insurance, and critical infrastructures with these high-security measures.

In addition to the aforementioned certifications, FRA1 plans to obtain further certifications like Blue Angel, VDS 3406, ISO 14001, ISO 50001, ISAE 3402, and Climate Neutral Data Center. The data center also aims to use waste heat in collaboration with the city of Schwalbach, photovoltaic systems, and green facades.

The planned connection capacity is 30 megawatts, which can be flexibly used for standard or AI workloads. Noris Network is implementing a comprehensive redundancy concept for the operation of FRA1 and is preparing for these certifications.

With FRA1, Noris Network continues to demonstrate its commitment to providing secure, sustainable, and innovative data center solutions. The company looks forward to contributing to the digital growth of Germany and beyond with this new facility.
