Cypress's Suprex Wireless OSDP-Wiegand Extender Models SPX-5631 and SPX-5641

Cypress Integration Solutions, based in Lapeer, Michigan, has announced an update to its Suprex® Wireless Extenders. The new models now support the Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP), offering a versatile solution for access control system integrators.

The updated Wireless Extenders can connect both Wiegand and OSDP readers with corresponding panels wirelessly, providing flexibility across different communication standards in access control systems. This flexibility eliminates the need for complex wiring, simplifying setup and reducing installation costs.

Universal compatibility is another key advantage of the Suprex Wireless Extenders. They connect Wiegand or OSDP readers to Wiegand or OSDP panels, supporting a wide range of existing access control devices. The extenders facilitate communication between legacy Wiegand devices and modern OSDP-enabled panels or readers, aiding smooth system upgrades or expansions.

The enhanced Wireless Suprex model will begin shipping this month. The extenders support reader LED and auxiliary I/O signals, and have dry contact relay outputs for activating doors and gates. The Suprex Wireless OSDP & Wiegand line includes the long-range wireless model SPX-5641, which typically spans distances of up to 2 miles, and the SPX-5631 model, offering a typical range of 1 mile.

Both models of the Wireless Suprex Extenders are a pair of units that connect to the reader and the controller, communicating over an encrypted wireless connection. The 2.4 GHz wireless connection uses the IEEE 802.15.4 wireless protocol. The units are made and supported in the US and are backed by in-house tech support.

Jon Uren, Cypress President and CEO, stated that the updated Wireless Extenders make it easier to use OSDP and are a great product for switching from Weigand to OSDP in the future. Both models of the Wireless Suprex Extenders carry a lifetime warranty.

It is worth noting that the Wireless Suprex Extenders are not mentioned to have a direct relation to the topic of Illegal Cell Jammers or DMP's JamAlert. The Suprex Wireless Extenders are designed to support a combined OSDP/Wiegand system without requiring a separate converter.

In summary, the updated Suprex Wireless Extenders act as a single wireless solution bridging different reader and panel protocols, making them a versatile choice for access control system integrators.

The updated Suprex Wireless Extenders, a product supported by in-house technology, are designed to connect Wiegand and OSDP readers wirelessly, showcasing data-and-cloud computing capabilities in the field of access control systems. These extenders, backed by a lifetime warranty, are a testament to the evolving technology in the security industry, facilitating seamless transitions and versatile solutions.
