Nutanix Makes a Splash in Container Management with NKP
In a significant move, Nutanix has been recognized as a Challenger in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Container Management. This is the first time Nutanix has been included in this prestigious list, following the launch of its Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) in 2024.
The recognition highlights Nutanix’s ability to execute and completeness of vision in container management solutions. The NKP offers a production-ready enterprise solution for managing cloud-native applications across diverse environments.
Key features of NKP include integration of D2iQ, Inc.’s Kubernetes Platform to rapidly deliver an enterprise-grade container management solution. It also supports running both modern and traditional applications on the same platform, and offers deployment flexibility across multiple environments such as datacenter, edge, or public clouds.
NKP can be used in a variety of infrastructure underlays, including virtualized platforms, bare metal, and native public cloud Kubernetes environments. It is an open, complete solution that enables customers to modernize applications while simplifying operations across hybrid multicloud environments.
Karnataka Bank in India is one such customer using Nutanix's Nutanix Cloud Platform (NCP) solution. The bank is running a cloud native digital currency application required by the Reserve Bank of India on NCP. The applications running on NCP enable Karnataka Bank to provide services such as mobile and Internet banking, fraud and risk management, loan management, and more.
Venkat Krishnan, CIO of Karnataka Bank, stated that Nutanix's platform, ability to support Kubernetes, and professional services enable the bank to deploy the applications required by the marketplace they serve and regulators. The bank is running its critical business applications, including cloud native customer-facing ones, on NCP.
Lee Caswell, SVP Product and Solutions Marketing at Nutanix, stated that the recognition is a testament to Nutanix's focus on product innovation and customer success. Nutanix continues to innovate in the container space, having introduced its Cloud Native AOS solution this year, extending enterprise storage and advanced data services to hyperscaler Kubernetes services and bare metal cloud native environments.
The Cloud Native AOS solution supports Kubernetes and does not require a hypervisor. NKP complements Nutanix's existing portfolio in both architecture and go-to-market execution. Nutanix customers, including a leading North American financial services firm, are using NKP to innovate faster with an open, CNCF-compliant cloud native stack.
NKP allows customers to run modern and traditional applications on the same platform across diverse environments. This flexibility and efficiency in managing Kubernetes workloads positions Nutanix as a notable player in container management, with strengths in execution and vision. The recognition in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Container Management underscores Nutanix's commitment to delivering innovative solutions that meet the needs of its customers.
