Construction of power line at Wild Man commences immediately
In the heart of Dresden, construction work is underway to install a new underground power line, causing some changes to traffic flow in the northern part of the city. Here's what you need to know:
The Boxdorfer Weg will be fully closed for construction, with residents receiving information from the construction company two weeks before work begins. The exact timeline for this closure has not been provided.
From 25 August to 22 September, there will be a half-side closure of the intersection Wild Man Street/Industriestraße (north side), with a traffic light regulating traffic in all directions. A full closure of the intersection Wild Man Street/Platanenstraße is scheduled from 1 to 22 August.
From 23 September to 17 October, there will be a full closure of the intersection Wild Man Street/Burgsdorffstraße. The Wild Man Street will be fully closed from Kronenstraße to Burgsdorffstraße during this period, and a detour via the Wilschdorfer Landstraße and Radeburger Straße will be set up for traffic heading towards the city centre.
The Loßnitzweg will be closed to cyclists until the end of 2026. Cyclists are advised to use alternative routes during this time.
The construction measures are being carried out by a construction company hired by network operator SachsenNetze, who is also responsible for laying the new high-voltage cable trench under Wild Man Street between Industriestraße and Platanenstraße by the end of the year.
SachsenNetze asks for understanding from residents and those affected by the temporary restrictions. For up-to-date and detailed information on this local project, it would be advisable to consult the Dresden city or utility company websites, local government announcements, or local news outlets specializing in Dresden infrastructure and traffic updates.
Work on the 110-kV power line section from Augustusweg to Loßnitzweg, corner Waldhofstraße, started in early August and will continue along the Moritzburger Landstraße next week. The entire route of the line, including a map, is displayed online at 110-kV high-voltage lines | SachsenNetze.
At present, no official start or end dates for the underground power line construction in Dresden’s north have been provided. There is also no information about planned street closures on Wild Man Street, Augustusweg, or Loßnitzweg, nor any information on alternative routes or traffic management measures during construction.
