Cisco Launches CyberHub in Rwanda to Train Next Gen Cybersecurity Experts
Tech giant Cisco has completed over 1600 projects worldwide, including training 16.6 million Africans in digital skills. In Rwanda, Cisco has launched the CyberHub, a collaborative space for learners and stakeholders to explore emerging technologies and enhance cybersecurity skills.
The CyberHub, part of Cisco's Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) program, aims to address critical skills gaps and support a workforce capable of tackling evolving challenges in cybersecurity, data protection, and privacy. Shain Rahim, Cisco's East Africa Regional Manager, expressed the company's commitment to supporting Rwanda's digital transformation through this initiative.
The CyberHub, launched in 2023, offers training opportunities including access to Cisco Networking Academy, covering digital literacy, AI, and advanced cybersecurity certifications. It features a Cybersecurity Academy, Innovation Hub, and state-of-the-art technology labs for cybersecurity training and education. The initiative is a collaboration between Rwanda's National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA), Cisco, and GIZ, and is based at the University of Rwanda's College of Science and Technology in Kigali. NCSA described the CyberHub as an important initiative dedicated to building talent with specialized skills in cybersecurity and data protection, and to supporting the development of a cybersecurity and data privacy ecosystem in Rwanda.
Through the CyberHub, Cisco aims to empower more Rwandans with critical cybersecurity skills and strengthen the country's cyber resilience. The initiative is part of Cisco's broader commitment to supporting Rwanda's digital transformation and preparing its workforce for the future.
