Cinema camera Nexus G1 nears final stages, unveiling enhanced functionalities; pre-order phase commences.

In a thrilling move for the filmmaking community, the hotly anticipated Nexus G1 Cinema Camera is now up for pre-order. This purpose-built, modular marvel has been generating buzz since its initial announcement in the early days of 2024, earning its reputation as a darling of the industry, "designed by filmmakers, for filmmakers."

Bulletproofed by a Super 35 sensor shared with the Blackmagic Pocket 6K, the G1 promises to pepper your workflows with familiar, high-quality images, all wrapped in an innovative box-style body. Engineered for adaptability, the G1's body features interchangeable lens mounts, flexible storage and power options, and much more, making it the perfect candidate for a customization dream.

The star of the show? NexusOS, a brand-new operating system, crafted from the ground up. This versatile piece of software offers intuitive control via touchscreen and physical inputs, while uniquely supporting native focus, iris, and zoom (FIZ) motor control on fully manual cinema lenses. No need for pesky third-party systems! It's a level of hardware-software integration usually reserved for top-tier gear.

Also unveiled is the Nexus Grip, which has finally entered production phase. Though full functionality, including built-in recording controls, is still under wraps, the grip seamlessly integrates with NexusOS, enabling one-handed operation and speedy adjustments.

The Nexus G1 will be manufactured Down Under—Australia, to be exact—with Q3 2025 shipping dates on the horizon. With the final price set at $3,300 (approximately £2,431 / AU$5,000), eager filmmakers can snag a Founders Edition preorder for $2,980, requiring only a 10% deposit. This special edition boasts custom markings and carbon fiber panels.

Standing tall with thoughtful design, robust core specs, and an affordable price, the Nexus G1 could very well serve as a game-changer for the filmmakers hoping to elevate their craft to the next level without breaking the bank.
