Casio Revives Retro A158WA as Stylish DQD-851J-8JF Desk Clock
Casio has revisited its retro A158WA digital watch and transformed it into a stylish desk clock. The new DQD-851J-8JF will hit Japanese stores on October 25, 20XX, priced at 4,378 yen (~$30).
The DQD-851J-8JF is a modern take on the steel version of the classic F91W, originally released in the 1980s as the A158WA. It retains the original's iconic design but adds new features for the modern user.
The desk clock boasts amber LEDs for the time display, ensuring a gentle glow that won't disrupt sleep at night. It also functions as an alarm clock with a snooze button and five adjustable volume levels. Additionally, it includes an automatic calendar, thermometer, and humidity sensor for added convenience.
Powered by a pair of AA batteries, the clock offers an estimated battery life of about a year. The time is radio-controlled for accuracy, but manual adjustment is required for use in the United States.
Measuring 102mm x 117mm with a thickness of 48mm and weighing about 6.5oz, the DQD-851J-8JF is compact and sturdy. Casio has initially made this retro-inspired desk clock exclusively available in Japan.
