China's electric vehicle powerhouse, BYD, has officially ignited operations in Romania, unleashing its electric and plug-in hybrid models on the local market, according to Economica on May 8. This move is just another nail in the coffin of BYD's aggressive European conquest strategy.

Zip over to a showroom in Bucharest, baby! BYD's initial retail footprint in Romania comes courtesy of a partnership with Tiriac Auto and DAB Auto. With eyes on expanding across the nation like a wildfire, the company plans to crank out over 30 sales spots in key cities, such as Ploiești, Brașov, Iași, Cluj-Napoca, Timișoara, Constanta, Pitești, Craiova, and beyond, by the end of 2025.

What's cookin', Romanian UniCredit Leasing? Warm up the coffees, as rumor has it, you're cooking up a strategic partnership with BYD to lend a hand in the distribution and financing of their electric rides.

The hunger for eco-friendly transportation is real in Romania, fueled by government incentives and charging infrastructure enhancements.

Upstart BYD, the globe-trotter of alternative propulsion vehicles, will start gracing Romanian consumers with an array of SUVs and sedans, including the ripped, football-star-on-steroids SEALION 7. This 100% electric beast will sprint briskly from 0 to 100 km/h in an adrenaline-pumping 4.5 seconds... and keep on ticking with an astounding perch of up to 502 km!
