Business Magnate's Windows 7 Tablet by FIC: The Tycoon TVB00
First International Computer Inc (FIC), a Taiwan-based company known for manufacturing notebooks and desktops on contract for other companies, has entered the tablet market with their latest offering, the Tycoon TVB00. This marks FIC's first indigenous tablet PC effort.
The Tycoon TVB00 is a tablet running the Windows 7 operating system and boasts a 10.1 inch capacitive touchscreen and weighs a manageable 840 grams. Under the hood, it features a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 processor, 2GB of DDR3 memory, and a 120 GB hard drive.
FIC aims to make a significant impact in the tablet market, with Leo Chien, the chief operating officer at FIC, stating that "Next year is the time for us to make a hike up the hill and we will make the splash with tablets." The Tycoon TVB00 will be available for sale in Taiwan from November 13th, priced at NT$19,800 (approximately US$657).
The Tycoon TVB00 will be sold through the U-Life TV shopping channel, with Vibo Telecom Inc as the telecom partner. FIC has set a modest sales target of 3,000 units for the Tycoon TVB00 before the end of 2010.
Despite the modest sales target, the Tycoon TVB00 is a promising debut for FIC in the tablet market. However, there is currently no specific information available regarding improvements made to the responsiveness of Windows 7 on the Tycoon TVB00 tablet by First International Computer Inc in a touchscreen environment. For the best accuracy, checking directly with FIC’s official support channels or product manuals may provide the needed information.
FIC has previously been involved in the manufacturing of notebooks and desktops on contract for other companies. With the release of the Tycoon TVB00, FIC is showing signs of aiming to improve its performance in the tablet market, with a focus on increasing sales in 2011. Leo Chien's optimistic statement, "Next year is the time for us to make a hike up the hill and we will make the splash with tablets," further emphasizes this ambition.
