In the heart of Austria, Gebruder Weiss Holding AG continues to make significant strides in the transport and logistics industry. With a global workforce of approximately 8,600 employees and 180 company-owned locations, the company is leading the charge towards a greener future.

One of the key components of Gebruder Weiss's sustainability strategy is the installation of solar energy systems across Europe. The company has already installed 34 such systems, with a combined capacity of over 13,000 MWh per year, reducing CO2 emissions by more than 2,700 tons annually.

A prime example of this initiative can be seen at the company's logistics hub in Popesți-Leordeni, Romania. The hub now boasts a photovoltaic system comprising 674 solar panels, covering 1,635 sqm and boasting a capacity of 300 kWp. This system has been instrumental in meeting approximately 60% of the hub's energy needs from renewable sources, resulting in an annual reduction of approximately 48.85 tons of CO2 emissions.

While no specific CO2 emission reduction figures have been reported yet, plans are underway to expand photovoltaic initiatives at the Sibiu hub. The company is aiming to reduce its reliance on traditional energy and achieve about 20% energy autonomy.

In addition to solar energy, Gebruder Weiss is also exploring the use of electric vehicles. In 2024, the company made around 13,000 electric vehicle deliveries. The company is also trialling an electric truck, further demonstrating its commitment to a greener future.

In 2024, Gebruder Weiss generated revenues of EUR 2.71 billion. As the company continues to grow, its commitment to sustainability remains a cornerstone of its operations. The company's broader plan includes building an energy-efficient logistics infrastructure, positioning itself as a leader in sustainable transport and logistics solutions.
