Brompton Technology enhances S4 Studios' administrative process for Discovery's Expedition Files, according to new announcement.

In a groundbreaking partnership, S4 Studios has teamed up with Brompton Technology for the production of the Discovery Channel's new series, Expedition Files. The collaboration aimed at delivering a high-efficiency virtual production workflow, and it seems the partnership has paid off.

Adam Callaway, global lead for virtual production & broadcast at Brompton Technology, expressed satisfaction with S4 Studios' unique nimble virtual production pipeline. The shoot for Expedition Files took place at XRM Studios (soon to be rebranded as Brandon Studios) in Burbank, California.

The shoot required constant environment changes, rapid turnaround, and seamless coordination between physical and virtual elements. Brompton's Tessera LED video processors provided S4 Studios with more control options than typical processors, including input switching, nit levels, ShutterSync, phase, fade-to-black, and freeze functions.

These advanced real-time control features were critical for the ambitious production pace of up to 25 shots per day. S4 Studios built a custom Stream Deck interface for managing the Brompton LED processors during live shoots, which facilitated seamless operation.

The use of 4K Tessera SX40 LED processors paired with ROE Visual BPv2 (Black Pearl) LED panels delivered exceptional image quality and real-time control across the LED stage. The deep dive into AV and broadcast convergence will be featured in Installation's next edition, available ahead of IBC 2025 from September 5th.

The key features of Brompton's Tessera LED video processors that enabled S4 Studios to achieve a high-efficiency virtual production workflow for Expedition Files include support for rapid and flexible setup changes, advanced real-time control features, reliable, high-quality LED processing with stable power operation, and rugged hardware design suitable for 24/7 professional use.

Brompton Technology looks forward to seeing how S4 Studios continues to push the boundaries of what's possible with their virtual production workflow. The partnership between S4 Studios and Brompton Technology is a testament to the power of collaboration and innovation in the realm of virtual production.
