Empowering broadcasters to pave their unique journey towards hybrid and software-defined live production is what Appear aims to do.

Broadcasters gain independence to decide on hybrid and software-defined live production's direction.

At IBC 2025, global leader in live production technology, Appear, is set to captivate attendees with showcases of its cutting-edge X Platform hardware and VX software platform.

The event will mark the European debuts of two exciting new solutions: the VX Media Gateway software solution and the X5, the latest addition to the X Platform. The X5 is a compact and cost-effective solution designed for high-value, smaller-scale live productions, offering ultra-low latency, high-quality compression, and superior IP media transport [1].

Appear will also introduce Appear Estate Manager (AEM), a new advanced tooling solution at IBC 2025, providing customers with greater visibility and control of their X Platform deployments.

The VX platform has been designed to support real-world media interchange between containerized software functions, enabling operators to deploy hybrid and cloud-native workflows that are low latency, vendor-agnostic, and easy to orchestrate. The VX Media Gateway's initial release includes robust support for Ground to Cloud workflows and features Appear’s highly optimized SRT software implementation for unparalleled scalability.

The technologies on display have been engineered to handle the 'always-on' world of ever-increasing amounts of services, content, and data. The X Platform will have new capabilities, including a 100 Gbps network card, a high-capacity module for the next wave of bandwidth-hungry live production.

The VX platform is built for the industry's evolution towards the Media eXchange Layer (MXL). According to CTO of Appear, Andy Rayner, the new VX platform, SRT solutions, and X Platform features ensure pristine, low-latency real-time media can be moved securely over any network and exchanged seamlessly between hardware and software services.

The solutions showcased by Appear enable truly flexible live production, allowing operators to create high-quality programs entirely in software. The updates prioritize low latency, quality compression, and adaptability for diverse production scale requirements.

Thomas Bostrøm Jørgensen, CEO of Appear, emphasized that the company's approach to standards, microservices, MXL, and containerization applies the same modular philosophy to software that made their hardware successful. The solutions also allow for the creation of these programs wherever compute and storage are most cost-effective for individual business models.

Visitors to Appear's IBC2025 booth will witness the enabling of a software-defined future in live production for its customers. Appear will exhibit at Stand 1.C61 at IBC 2025.

In summary, Appear’s IBC 2025 innovations focus on enhancing IP media transport through the X Platform’s expansion with the cost-effective X5 unit and media gateway solutions, enabling broadcasters to adopt hybrid and software-defined live workflows. The updates prioritize low latency, quality compression, and adaptability for diverse production scale requirements [1].
