BMW's i3 Returns on Electric 3 Series; Discontinued 6 Series GT & i3 Find US Buyers
BMW has announced the return of the i3 badge, this time on an electric 3 Series based on the Neue Klasse, arriving next year. Meanwhile, in the United States, despite production ending, a 'new' 6 Series Gran Turismo was sold, and an unsold BMW i3 finally found a buyer.
BMW USA's third-quarter sales surged by 24%, reaching 96,886 units. This impressive growth comes despite the discontinuation of certain models. The 6 Series GT, which was discontinued in 2020 and had its production end in 2023, surprisingly saw a 'new' unit sold in the United States during this period. The identity of the buyer and the transaction amount remain unknown.
The i3, which was discontinued in June 2022 after a nine-year run and 250,000 units produced, also saw one of the previously unsold models in the United States find a buyer. The details of this sale are also not publicly available.
The return of the i3 badge on an electric 3 Series and the unexpected sales of previously discontinued models like the 6 Series GT in the United States highlight the enduring appeal of BMW's offerings. Despite production ends, these vehicles continue to find buyers, driving the brand's success.
