BMW Unveils the 2026 iX3: A Premium Electric SUV with Impressive Specs
BMW has recently unveiled the next generation of its electric SUV, the 2026 iX3. This vehicle is packed with innovative features, including BMW's next-generation electronics and software platform, built around four high-performance 'superbrains'.
The 2026 iX3 boasts an impressive driving range of up to 805km on the WLTP cycle, thanks to its 108kWh high-voltage battery and sixth-generation BMW eDrive technology. This electric powertrain promises sportscar-like acceleration, with a 0-100km/h time of just 4.9 seconds.
The iX3's boot space offers 520 litres, expandable to 1750 litres with the rear seats folded. The vehicle also features an additional 58 litres of 'frunk' storage under the bonnet.
Inside, the cabin offers a luxurious experience. Ambient lighting and curated 'My Modes' themes adjust the sound, light, and digital displays to suit the driver's preferences. The cabin is equipped with a panoramic glass roof, a horizontally layered cockpit, and a new BMW Panoramic iDrive system, which integrates a 17.9-inch central display, 3D head-up display, and a full-width projected interface.
Standard features include two-zone automatic climate control, an alarm system, telephony with wireless charging, seat heating, and electrically operated seat adjustment. Advanced driver assistance features, such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure and change warning, front collision warning, and automated parking, are also included.
The 2026 iX3 is available in nine colours, including new Polarised Grey metallic and Ocean Wave Blue metallic. The vehicle's connectivity includes personalisation through BMW ID profiles, smartphone-based digital keys, video streaming, gaming, and over-the-air software updates.
Production of the 2026 iX3 begins this year at BMW's new Debrecen plant in Hungary. The vehicle will be launched in the Australian market in mid-2026. While the Australian price has not yet been revealed, it is expected to be announced closer to the launch, with the previous generation priced between AUD 91,000 and AUD 104,900 plus on-road costs.
The 2026 iX3 has a drag coefficient of just 0.24Cd, enhancing its aerodynamic efficiency. The vehicle's production and ownership sustainability aims for a 34 per cent reduction in lifecycle CO2 emissions compared to the previous model, with recycled and renewable materials used throughout its construction.
With its impressive performance, spacious interior, and advanced technology, the 2026 BMW iX3 is poised to be a standout electric SUV in the market. Stay tuned for more updates on its Australian launch.
