BMW Exec: Cross-Functional Decisions Key to Supply Chain Resilience

Dr. Michael Nikolaides, Senior Vice President of Production Network and Supply Chain Management at BMW Group, shared insights at the ALSC Europe 2024 conference held in Kameha Grand Bonn, Germany, from 19-21 March. In a Red Sofa Interview with Christopher Ludwig, Nikolaides discussed the importance of cross-functional decisions in logistics and the key factors for supply chain resilience.

Nikolaides, who joined BMW AG in 2004 after studying at the Technical University, highlighted the benefits of combining business functions to better navigate volatile times in logistics. He identified three key factors for supply chain resilience: setting up resilient production systems, digitalization and real-time data availability, and having the right people to make decisions. During the interview, Nikolaides explained how BMW Group has been implementing these strategies to strengthen its supply chain.
