BMW-Empowered Morgan Supersport: A 335HP Ode to Britain's Auto Tradition
The Morgan Motor Company, founded in 1910, has unveiled its latest creation - the Morgan Supersport. This contemporary vehicle showcases a unique neo-retro style, combining LED lighting, integrated indicators, and distinctive flowing lines to create a stunning visual appeal.
At the heart of the Morgan Supersport's innovation lies its use of an aluminum chassis, a departure from the brand's historic use of wood in its car frames. This modern approach enhances structural rigidity while significantly reducing weight, thereby improving handling and driving dynamics compared to traditional frame materials.
Instead of traditional timber, the Morgan Supersport uses aluminum for its chassis, a shift that modernizes the car's construction while maintaining its lightweight character. This blend of innovation and heritage retains the brand’s legacy in design but upgrades materials for performance and durability.
The Morgan Supersport is powered by a BMW B58 TwinPower Turbo engine, producing 335hp and 369ft-lbs of torque. It accelerates from 0-60MPH in an impressive 3.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 166MPH.
The bodywork of the Morgan Supersport is handcrafted over a traditional ash wood frame, with 60% of the aluminum used in the construction sourced from recycled content. The Supersport's cabin is trimmed in Scottish leather upholstery and decked out in wood, offering a luxurious and comfortable driving experience.
The Supersport comes equipped with a separate glovebox, a little trunk, and an available luggage rack. It rides on 18" x 8.5" Superlite wheels in front and 19" x 8.5" Superlite units in the rear, wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 5 rubber.
The interior is equipped with a Sennheiser audio system, a wireless charging pad, and more storage space behind the seats. The Morgan Supersport can be capped off with a standard folding mohair soft top or fitted with an interchangeable carbon composite hard top.
The new frame of the Morgan Supersport is paired with a double wishbone suspension setup, which can be upgraded with an available Dynamic Handling Pack. The Supersport is equipped with an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox and an adaptive sport exhaust system.
The Morgan Supersport is built entirely by hand at Morgan's Pickersleigh Road facilities in Malvern. The option to upgrade the Superlite rims to more premium 19-inch forged aluminum Aerolite wheels is available.
Priced starting from £85,000 (~ $110,100), the Morgan Supersport is expected to hit UK dealerships starting in April. This stylish and powerful vehicle offers a perfect blend of heritage and innovation for discerning drivers.
