Diablo 4 Unveils New Class: The Paladin in Upcoming Expansion

Diablo 4 players can look forward to a new addition to the game's roster of playable characters, as Blizzard Entertainment has announced the highly anticipated arrival of the Paladin class in a planned expansion due for release in 2026.

The expansion, currently scheduled for a mid to late 2026 release, is expected to be priced around $40, with bundles including the Paladin and the existing Spiritborn class priced higher[1][3]. The Paladin class, one of the most requested by fans, was originally introduced in Diablo 2 and later reimagined as the Crusader.

The Paladin, a heavily armored holy warrior associated with the Order of Zakarum or its offshoots, wields holy magic. While the exact abilities and details of the Paladin class remain under wraps, leaks show early development builds labeled "2.5.Xpaladin.67961" on Blizzard's servers[2][4]. The final class may represent various holy knight archetypes from the Diablo lore, such as Paladins, Crusaders, Templars, or Knights Penitent.

The expansion’s reveal and more concrete information about the Paladin class are anticipated around Gamescom 2025, with developers currently focusing on Seasons 10 and 11 before the expansion's release[1][5]. The Vessel of Hatred expansion, launched in 2024, continued the main story with a new jungle-themed region and a new character class, the Spiritborn[6].

Diablo 4, available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC (via Steam and Battle.net), PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4, has been growing and evolving since its launch in June 2023[7]. The game is also included in Xbox Game Pass.

Notably, the development of Diablo 4 has seen the involvement of Rod Fergusson, known for his work on BioShock Infinite and other troubled projects[8].
