Beyond Aero Soars With France's First Manned Hydrogen-Electric Flight
Beyond Aero, a trailblazing aerospace company, has made significant strides in its mission to develop hydrogen-electric business jets. The company has established a state-of-the-art lab in Toulouse, France, and recently achieved a major milestone with France's first manned, fully hydrogen-electric flight.
The lab, among the world's top three most powerful facilities of its kind, replicates three representative channels with different fuel cell providers, reaching a capacity of 1200 kW across channels. Beyond Aero has collaborated with leading aerospace suppliers like EKPO Fuel Cell Technologies and FEV Aerospace to validate its propulsion system.
The company has secured over $50 million in funding and has secured $1 billion in Letters of Intent (LOIs). Beyond Aero's BYA-1 hydrogen-electric business jet is engaged with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) through Pre-Application Services (PAC) for certification.
Beyond Aero acquired Universal Hydrogen's intellectual property, flight data, and assets, including 100% of its patent portfolio and key talent. The company is building the first electric business aircraft powered by hydrogen propulsion, enabling six passengers to fly up to 800 NM (1,500 km).
Beyond Aero has reached Technology Readiness Level 6 (TRL6) for its hydrogen-electric powered aircraft, validated by a full-scale propulsion system test campaign in a representative environment. With its cutting-edge lab, successful flight tests, and strategic partnerships, Beyond Aero is poised to revolutionize the business aviation industry with its hydrogen-electric business jets.
