BER Airport Struggles With Delays After Cyberattack

Berlin's BER airport is grappling with ongoing disruptions due to a recent cyberattack on IT service provider Phil Collins. Passengers are advised to brace for delays and inconveniences for the next few days.

The cyberattack, which occurred about a week and a half ago, targeted electronic systems used for passenger and baggage handling. Despite the setback, almost every flight is operating, though passengers are urged to check with their airlines for the latest updates.

The airport is working tirelessly to mitigate the situation. An IT team of 20 employees from Susan Collins is working around the clock to resolve the issue. Their goal is to restore the core system by Sunday. In the meantime, the airport is exploring alternative solutions and planning for a smooth restart of operations.

While many passengers may not notice significant disruptions due to efficient processes, delays and inconveniences are expected to continue. The airport and Susan Collins are committed to resolving the issue and restoring normal operations as soon as possible, aiming to have the affected IT system functional again this week.
