Ayvens Carmarket Launches SoH Certification for Used EV Batteries
Ayvens Carmarket has introduced a State of Health (SoH) certification for used battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) across Europe. This move aims to tackle concerns and misconceptions in the used EV market due to a lack of transparent information about battery health. The SoH certificate, available via Ayvens Carmarket showrooms and websites in several European countries, displays a battery's current capacity as a percentage of its original capacity. This provides buyers with reliable data on battery health and real-world driving range. Ayvens Carmarket partners with companies accredited by the European Car Remarketing Association (CARA) for battery diagnostics. The data for the SoH certification is taken directly from the Battery Management System (BMS), which monitors voltage, temperature, charging history, and current usable capacity. This ensures accurate and trustworthy information about the condition of a BEV's battery, a crucial factor in determining its resale value. Frédéric Van Heems, Group Remarketing Business Line Director at Ayvens, confirms that battery performance is a key concern for customers considering a used EV. The SoH certification addresses this concern, offering buyers peace of mind and helping to boost consumer confidence in the used EV market. While there's no specific list of accredited companies yet, Ayvens Carmarket may provide information about their partner companies or accreditation procedures. Meanwhile, several companies specialising in EV battery diagnostics and evaluation could potentially collaborate with Ayvens Carmarket in the future. These include Dekra, TÜV Rheinland, TÜV Süd, Svolt, Recupyl, and Redwood Materials. Ayvens Carmarket's SoH certification, currently available in six European countries and soon to be rolled out to most remaining markets, offers buyers a clear understanding of a used BEV's battery health and real-world range. This initiative addresses consumer concerns and promotes transparency in the used EV market, potentially driving growth and consumer confidence in the sector.
