Aykhal Resident Loses 1.14M Rubles in Car Scam via Telegram
A resident of Aykhal, aged 39, has fallen victim to a car scam, losing a total of 1,140,000 rubles. The fraudulent transaction involved a 2016 Toyota RAV4 and was orchestrated through a Telegram channel posing as a car transport company.
The victim discovered the car listing on a Telegram channel with over 13,000 subscribers, complete with reactions and car photos. Initially, the scammer requested the victim's passport details and an initial payment of 312,000 rubles. After receiving the money, the scammer ceased all communication.
Later, the scammer contacted the victim again, this time demanding an additional 830,000 rubles, supposedly for 'customs duties'. Believing the scammer's story, the victim made the second payment. However, the car was never delivered, and the scammer disappeared with the total sum of 1,140,000 rubles.
The Mirinsky District Police have been informed about the incident. Despite extensive searches, the perpetrators behind the Telegram channel remain unidentified. The victim is advised to remain vigilant and cautious when dealing with online transactions, especially involving large sums of money.
