Autonomous Vehicle Giant, Tesla, Offers Complimentary Full Self-Driving Features in Europe and the Middle East
Tesla has announced a significant update to its Full Self-Driving (FSD) transfer policy, making it possible for customers in Europe and the Middle East to transfer their existing FSD package to a new Tesla vehicle without the need for additional purchase. This expansion, which was previously limited to North America, is a move that aligns Tesla's practices internationally and aims to enhance customer satisfaction and stimulate sales outside the United States.
The new policy, announced via TeslaEurope's regional X account, applies to all new orders in Europe and the Middle East. It allows eligible customers to carry forward their advanced driving features, streamlining upgrades and enhancing the value for customers. The transfer process is managed through Tesla's app and sales advisor, with the FSD on the old vehicle disabled and enabled on the new vehicle on the delivery day.
In the United States, Tesla continues to offer various promotional incentives to new buyers. These include a $7,500 lease incentive on qualifying vehicles, discounts of $1,000 for military personnel, first responders, teachers, and students, free Full Self-Driving (Supervised) trials with purchase, and the ability to get three months of Full Self-Driving (FSD) when using a Tesla Referral link. These offers provide financial benefits and trial access to FSD features for new buyers in the U.S.
The expansion of the FSD transfer policy was highly requested by longtime customers and could motivate existing owners in Europe and the Middle East to upgrade to newer models, as the latest vehicles come with upgraded hardware and better optimization for the autonomous driving stack. The post that announced the expansion stated, "You want it, you got it."
It's worth noting that the FSD software is valued at thousands of dollars, making this policy a significant advantage for Tesla owners in Europe and the Middle East. In addition, new buyers in the U.S. can also benefit from 0% APR financing for up to 60 months on new Model 3 purchases with FSD.
This move by Tesla reflects its ongoing commitment to promoting its FSD software and the upcoming Robotaxi program, aiming to involve more owners in its advancements. The company's progress in these areas suggests that Tesla is positioning itself for a future where autonomous driving becomes increasingly common.
