In a significant move to establish the UK as the European AI hub, Salesforce has announced plans to invest $6bn in the region. This investment is expected to be channeled through EHE Ventures, a venture capital firm with a focus on practical, scalable AI applications that improve life.

EHE Ventures, part of the EHE Group, has already demonstrated its commitment to this cause. The firm has invested more than £1.1 million into seven early-stage AI startups, with plans to invest up to £15m in UK startups over the next three years. The investment was made through the EHE Ventures (S)EIS AI Growth Fund.

Neil Vose, CEO of EHE Venture Studio, stated that AI is transforming various sectors including work, diagnosis, farming, borrowing, and consumption. One such startup, Spotlight Pathology, uses computer vision to speed up blood cancer diagnosis, while Fotenix, an AgriTech company, uses digital twins and spectral imaging to detect crop disease weeks earlier than conventional methods.

The focus of EHE Ventures' investment remains on AI-first or AI-enabled companies. The fund targets pre-seed to Series A companies, with a focus on healthcare, financial inclusion, digital infrastructure, and climate resilience. For instance, Good With, a female-founded FinTech platform, improves credit decision-making for underserved borrowers, and Peppercorn AI deploys LLM-powered virtual assistants to streamline insurance onboarding, claims, and customer service.

In the realm of consumer technology, SUBCT, a MarTech startup, is now part of the portfolio and uses AI-powered content tagging to boost engagement and SEO. Scooch, a direct-to-consumer pet health platform, combines AI, embedded insurance, and personalized care.

The North of England is seen as a potential leader in responsible, applied AI by EHE Ventures. One such startup, NeuWave Technologies, an ocean intelligence startup, tackles costly offshore project delays caused by inaccurate wave forecasts.

Andy Grove, chairman of EHE Group, reaffirmed the commitment to backing founders building practical, transformative AI. The business expects to deploy up to £5m by the end of 2025, with the investment by Salesforce aimed at supporting these practical, transformative AI applications.

EHE Ventures' venture studio model involves active participation in shaping product, building tech, and getting to market faster. The EHE Ventures' in-house Venture Studio provides operational and technical support to the portfolio companies, ensuring they have the resources they need to succeed.

With these investments, the UK is set to become a hub for AI technology, driving innovation and improving life in various sectors.
