ADAC Warns: Chipolino Olympus i-Size & Reecle 360 Child Seats Pose Serious Safety Risks
ADAC has issued a warning against using the Chipolino Olympus i-Size and Reecle 360 child seat models due to significant safety concerns. The consumer organisation has found that these seats can detach from their base stations during crashes, potentially causing severe injuries to children.
In crash tests conducted by ADAC, both models withstood impacts when installed in the direction of travel. However, when installed facing the wrong direction, they failed the tests. In such cases, the seats detached from their base stations and could fly unhindered through the passenger compartment. Children secured in these seats could suffer severe injuries in the event of a crash.
ADAC experts advise against using these seats, especially for young children. Chipolino has stated that the Olympus i-Size is now sold out and will not be offered again, but remaining stocks may still exist in retail. Reecle has not yet responded to the ADAC's findings. Both models are sold in-store by selected baby product retailers and specialized children's stores in Germany and Austria.
ADAC is warning parents and caregivers to avoid using the Chipolino Olympus i-Size and Reecle 360 child seat models due to their potential safety hazards. Despite meeting legal requirements, ADAC recommends contacting the retailer and asking for goodwill, as there is no claim for return or exchange.
