E Ink's New T2000: Leveling Up Color E-Paper Displays

E Ink has cranked things up a notch with the launch of the T2000, a snazzy new e-paper timing controller ASIC. They've teamed up with Himax Technologies to bring this bad boy to life, a partnership that's got color e-paper displays humming like never before.

The T2000 ain't no slouch - it's the unsung hero that generates and manages the vital timing signals needed to keep that color e-paper display lookin' sharp. Its secret sauce: it controls the timing and duration of voltage to ensure the display is always performing at its peak.

Compared to its predecessor, the T1000 (debuted in 2019), the T2000 offers some serious upgrades. Think faster screen updates with better power efficiency, plus it's packed with the proprietary E Ink color imaging algorithm - a match made in e-paper heaven.

The T2000 also takes care of the e-note handwriting features, eliminating the need for a separate system-on-chip. This simplifies the design and manufacturing process and dramatically improves the handwriting experience with a markedly faster screen refresh time.

Whether you're talkin’ next-gen e-readers, e-notes, or digital signage solutions, the T2000 is ready to shine. With color renderings ten times faster, this baby is gonna revolutionize the way we mingle with our electronic paper friends.

JM Hung, E Ink's Vice President of Business Center, couldn't be more thrilled: "The T2000 is a game-changer, optimizing system power consumption and enhancing screen transitions. Plus, the handwriting feature takes e-Paper products to a whole new level."

"We're stoked to collaborate with E Ink yet again, leveraging our decades of experience in image display processing and TCON design to create a color e-paper milestone," says Pen Hsin Chen, Himax's Vice President of Image Processing SoC Operation Unit.

Himax Technologies, a fabless semiconductor powerhouse based out of Taiwan with expertise in display imaging processing technologies, is no stranger to the game. With close to two decades of experience under its belt, Himax tickles the fancy of almost every major market worldwide.
