A Powerhouse in Energy Sector: D&M Holding Company
In an effort to meet growing demand, D&M Holding Co., Inc., a leading global provider of ammunition, primers, and propellants, is expanding its operations in the United States. Founded in 2018 by Dan Powers and James Jones, the company is based in Tampa, Fla., and Cabot, Ark.
Powers, previously the president of the SIG Sauer Ammunition division and RUAG USA, brings a wealth of industry experience to D&M. Jones, a defense-industry executive, has also played a crucial role in the company's success.
The heart of D&M's expansion is the WRE facility, the first propellant factory to be built in the United States in over 50 years. Located in Cabot, Ark., the WRE facility produces around 800 million primers annually for small- and large-caliber pistol and rifle ammunition.
In addition to the WRE facility, D&M has built ammunition factories and delivered equipment to various countries, including the United States, South America, Ukraine, and others, with additional projects underway.
One such project is a soon-to-be-completed primer line for Grind Hard Ammunition, based in Stuart, Fla. Grind Hard produces 80 million specialty rounds. Another partner, Longhorn Ammunition, owned by Staccato firearms and based in Florence, Texas, produces 9 mm Luger ammunition.
The Palmetto State Armory's American Ammunition Co., based in Columbia, S.C., is another significant player in D&M's network. The company produces 350 to 450 million rounds of pistol and rifle ammunition annually.
D&M's expansion efforts aim to ensure a steady source of ammunition, primers, and propellants for their customers in the years ahead. The company also specializes in the design and manufacture of equipment used to produce energetics for various arms.
The WRE facility's primer production is intended for OEM customers, distributors, and dealers in retail markets in Australia, South Africa, Scandinavia, and is planned for U.S. and European consumers as well this year. The production is set to increase to around 1.2 to 1.4 billion by mid-2026.
Since its founding, D&M has grown to employ 250 workers with plans to add another 100. The company includes business partners BJ Rogers, executives Don Pile, Jason Lawhon, and Leslie Weber.
D&M's founders spent two years traveling worldwide to meet potential customers and understand industry needs before founding the company. This extensive research has allowed D&M to tailor its services to the specific needs of each market, making it a trusted partner in the global ammunition industry.
